  3. Research & Development

We actively pursue research and development, expanding the results into general-purpose technologies, middleware products, and services. Around 70% of our employees, over 100 individuals, are engineers specializing in audio and video. Here we present our research and development activities, guided by our core value: “Supporting the enrichment of society through advanced technology.”

Research and development at our company

Creating a rich future through audio and video

プロジェクトの立ち上げから運用までの流れを示す図

By its nature, middleware is embedded in products and services and delivered worldwide. We conduct research and development not only to supply middleware, but also to support every stage of a project, from launch to operation.
To address consultation-based questions such as “Is it possible to do something like this?” that arise from existing challenges, we stay abreast of industry issues and the latest technological trends, while also proactively engaging in research and development on social issues we ourselves identify.

Research and Development Content and Achievements

We introduce our research themes in audio and video, where our strengths lie, as well as in related areas.

    Technical data

    CRI in Numbers!

Here we introduce some technical data.

    • Number of CEDEC Public Presentations

Presenting at CEDEC’s public sessions requires passing strict screening. The number of our presentations demonstrate that our research has been recognized as novel and valuable contributions to the industry.

    • Engineer ratio

Our company has a strong concentration of members with expertise in audio and video technologies. Over 70% of our staff are engineers engaged in daily research and development, driving each other toward improvement.

    Internal Systems Promoting R&D

We operate multiple systems that encourage voluntary internal research and development. These systems foster a culture of “not fearing failure” and “pursuing what captures our interest,” allowing us to accumulate know-how across diverse fields.

    • “Challenge Encouragement System”— fostering productizationfrom independent research

Twice a year, we host the “Challenge Encouragement System,” where employees set their own themes, conduct research, and present their results. Even if the subject is not directly related to current duties, employees share ideas such as “It would be great if this kind of technology or product existed,” and their efforts are recognized. Many of the technologies presented through this system have later been commercialized.

    • Engineer-led short presentations:“LT (Lightning Talks)”

Once a week, we hold LT sessions led by engineers. These are short presentations, lasting 5 to 15 minutes, on topics beneficial to other members, the company, society, or the industry. Content often includes sharing technology trends and personal experiments, contributing to internal knowledge sharing and communication.

    • Encouragement to presentat technical conferences

The company actively encourages employees to present at technical conferences. With the slogan “Young people, take the stage,” we support not only experienced staff but also younger members in making presentations. In addition, reward incentives are provided.
Rather than keeping the knowledge gained through research and development inside the company, we aim to contribute to society by actively sharing and disseminating it.
